I want to thank so many of you for your kind thoughts this past week as I grappled with the tragedy that rocked our school community. Debra Lau Whelan’s piece for School Library Journal captured what Tuesday looked like at Springfield through my eyes. I continue to discover the many different lenses through which the day was viewed.
While I struggled with my own feelings of fear and confusion and anger and compassion, I was able to lean on the shoulders of many friends, both on- and offline. I now realize how many friends I made through blogging.
Our students too, shared this experience both on- and offline. We know they expressed their tributes and their feelings on MySpace and we know they had the support of the many adults who were so eager to hug and welcome them back to school.
