Mother’s Day indulgence

I hope that on Mother’s Day you’ll indulge reflections that have little to do with searching or learning or libraries.  While many of my colleagues at school are buying their first diaper bags, my baby graduated from Penn State yesterday.

Despite the rain it was a lovely weekend filled with “last times.”  Last poses by the lion, last dinner at Zola, last walk down College Ave, last glass of wine (perhaps) at the Nittany Lion Inn.  I won’t miss my last venture into that filthy and disgusting fraternity house.  Do college guys really have to live like that?

It was a lovely weekend filled with “first times.”  It was our first real bed and breakfast.  All our regular places were booked as far back as last July.  Our stay at the Queen in Bellefonte was lovely.  But talking to Matt, the newly minted grad, was another kind of first.  The boy has business dreams and it will be exciting to watch as he works them out.

We will have ample opportunity to watch.  He moves back in tomorrow.
